Immigration Case Status Reports

When your application or petition is filed, USCIS will process your case in the order received by application type to be fair to all applicants. You can receive automated case status information through the USCIS Online Case Status portal or by contacting the National Customer Service Center.

Clients of the Law Office of D.Ray Mantle benefit from constant updates on case preparation and having an experienced immigration attorney track and follow up on their pending applications and petitions.

USCIS Online Case Status

After your application is received by a USCIS Service Center or the National Benefits Center, USCIS will mail you a receipt notice. The receipt notice will have all of the important information you need about your case. With your receipt number, you can check the status of your case online and also register on the USCIS website for automatic case status updates while your case is being processed.

Enter your receipt number, including all letters, numbers and asteriks (*). Do not include any dashes (-).
A valid receipt number is required.

USCIS Processing Times

USCIS provides monthly updates on case processing targets for each Service Center and local office. The processing times shown are for applications that have just been completed, and may not be an accurate reflection of how long a newly-filed case will take to be processed. If your case was filed prior to the date listed on the most recent processing report and you have not received a response from USCIS, contact our office to learn more about expediting your case.

USCIS InfoPass Appointment Scheduling

InfoPass is a free, easy and convenient Internet-based system that allows the public to make an appointment to speak with an Immigration Information Officer. If you or someone you know has a complex immigration issue that is best handled in person by a trained immigration officer, InfoPass is for you! Instead of waiting in line—go online!

InfoPass

7 Steps to Reserving an Appointment through InfoPass

  1. Select the language you want to use (there are 12 language options).
  2. Select “Make an Appointment.”
  3. Type in the zip code where you live (so InfoPass can find the closest office for your appointment).
  4. Select the type of appointment that matches best with the kind of inquiry or problem you have. This step is important.
  5. Type in your name, date of birth, zip code and telephone number. An e-mail address is optional. This information will help USCIS identify you when you arrive for your appointment.
  6. Choose a date and time for your appointment. If you do not find an available appointment at a time that is convenient for you, feel free to check the InfoPass appointment schedule periodically. New appointments are added to the schedule each business day.
  7. An appointment notice, showing the time, date and location of your appointment, will appear on your computer screen. Print a copy of this notice immediately. Bring this notice with you when you come for your appointment.

Department of State Monthly Visa Bulletin

The U.S. Department of State (DOS) issues a monthly bulletin on the availability of immigrant visas. An immigrant visa number is required for each person immigrating permanently to the United States, either through an Immigrant Visa application at a U.S. Consulate or through Adjustment of Status with USCIS. Immigrant visas are numerically limited by category and by country of chargeability (usually the country of birth). Immediate relatives (spouses, parents and children) of U.S. citizens are granted immigrant visa numbers without limit, but all other applicants must wait in line for their particular category and country of chargeability.

If a category is Current (C), then there is no backlog for that month. If a category is Unavailable (U), then no applications for permanent residence will be accepted in that category during the month. If your country of chargeability is not India, China, Mexico or the Philippines, use the Worldwide dates. In order to be granted an immigrant visa or adjustment of status, your priority date must be before the date listed for your category and country.
